If
there is a single objective that unites all policy makers is
the need for building a strong industrial economy that
yields sustained increase of goods and services to respond
to the growing needs of their citizens. And the basis for an
industrialized economy is the Metal and Engineering
Industry. The Metal and Engineering Industry is supplying
basic inputs to all economic sectors. Virtually, all
economic sectors are also using services of the vast
discipline of engineering. As Ethiopia is heading towards
the building of an industrialized economy, it has become a
high time to engage in promotion of the Metal and
Engineering Industry.
In view
of this, the Ethiopian Association of Basic Metals and
Engineering Industries is making preparations to organize
the Third International Fair for Metals, Engineering and
Tools to be held from April 18 to April 22/2012 at the Addis
Ababa Exhibition Center. The Association is working with
Century Promotion Service in organizing the international
event.
The
main purposes of the fair are promoting the outputs of the
local and foreign metal and engineering industries,
illuminate the current and future demand of the outputs of
the industries, introduce the contemporary developments in
the sector, facilitate market linkages between all the
relevant players in the industry and create a fertile ground
for technology transfer, among others.
The
organizers have also planned to organize a one day workshop
in which study papers conducted on the current status and
future prospect of the country’s Metal and Engineering
Industry is presented.
Expected participants include foreign companies supplying
iron, metal and engineering products, importers of metal and
engineering products, companies engaged in production of
hand tools and equipments, users of the out puts of the
industries including companies engaged in manufacturing,
agriculture, construction and private and public real estate
developers. Service providers on the various specialized
fields of the engineering discipline such as civil,
electrical, chemical, electronics and mechanical engineering
and architectural design are also amongst the participants.
